How the laminated board works

Oct 21, 2024

The working principle of the laminated board is to cover the aluminum alloy substrate with a layer of film, usually using a high-gloss film or a color film, and then apply a professional adhesive to the board surface and then composite it. This process not only enhances the appearance of the panel, but also enhances its physical properties and durability.

Application scenarios of laminated boards
Laminated panels are widely used in a variety of occasions that require surface protection and decoration. For example, in the canning industry, laminated sheets (commonly known as coated iron) are laminated with PET, PC, PE, or PP films and metal sheets (such as galvanized sheets, cold-rolled sheets, aluminum sheets, stainless steel sheets) to form materials with excellent barrier properties and corrosion resistance.

Types of lamination processes
There are many kinds of laminating processes, mainly including the following:

Dry laminating method: A layer of adhesive is coated on the plastic film, and the solvent in the adhesive is removed by evaporation through the drying tunnel of the laminating machine, and then it is bonded with the paper printed matter in a hot pressing state to form a laminated product.
Wet lamination method: A layer of adhesive is applied to the surface of the plastic film, and the laminated product is formed by pressing rollers with the paper print when the adhesive is not dry.
Pre-coating method: directly use the plastic film pre-coated with adhesive and the paper print together with the laminating equipment to heat press to complete the laminating process.
The role of lamination
The main functions of lamination include:

Protective paper: make the surface of the paper smoother, brighter, stain-resistant, water-resistant, wear-resistant, and prolong the service life, especially suitable for student textbooks, books, picture albums, etc.
Enhance the effect of printed matter: protect the color graphic cover, make the color of the printed surface more vivid and eye-catching, and not easy to be worn. The abrasion resistance, folding resistance, tensile resistance and moisture resistance of printed matter have been greatly enhanced.
Compensate for printing defects: Many of the apparent defects that occur during the printing process can be masked after lamination, especially with matte films.
